Aircraft of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) will be stopping by in New Delhi on their way to Malaysia, next week.
RAF Eurofighter Typhoons and Airbus A-330 MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transport) refueling and transport aircraft will be in the capital on their way to a bilateral exercise with the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
Interestingly, the Eurofighter Typhoon was in consideration for the 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) tender of the Indian Air Force (IAF) until it was pipped to the final selection by French Rafale. India is still to place the order for the Dassault Rafale aircraft, negotiations for which were recently reported to be in difficulty.
The IAF has also selected the Airbus A-330 MRTT aircraft for its next line of refueling and transport aircraft, over the existing Russian IL-78 aircraft. Again, the order for the six aircraft is again yet to be placed.
