Airbus delivers first C-295 to India
| The aircraft is the first in an order for 56 C-295 transport aircraft to replace the Avro 748 aircraft of the Indian Air Force with final delivery by August 2031

According to Airbus, ‘The first 16 C295s of the 56 aircraft on order will be assembled at the San Pablo Sur site in Seville, Spain, with the second aircraft due to be delivered in May 2024 and the next 14 rolled out at a rate of one per month until August 2025.’

The frames are made of an extremely light-weight and strong composite weaved fiber. The fabric, too, is patented material and the shelter can be sealed, air-conditioned and is capable of maintaining a positive air pressure in an NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) environment.

Navy gets fleet tanker

The Indian Navy commissioned the first of two fleet tankers built by the Italian ship-builder Fincantieri on Friday. The INS Deepak (Lamp) was commissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai by the Indian Defense Minister Arackaparambil Kurian Antony.

BEL delivers IFF system for Indian P-8I

Indian government-owned defense company Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has delivered its Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Interrogator to Boeing’s facilities in Renton in the US state of Washington, for installation in the P-8I Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft being built for the Indian Navy.

Navy’s P-8I design finalized for assembly

Boeing has announced the completion on July 16 of the Final Design Review (FDR) for the P-8I, the Indian Navy’s long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft. The P-8I, based on the Boeing 737 commercial airplane, is a variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing is developing for the US Navy.
