Reports of a meeting to be held on Friday between representatives of the French defense industry and the Defense Secretary has been rubbished by sources in the Ministry of Defense.

“Antony has categorically said no movement on defense contracts will take place until the formation of the new government and the presence of a new defense minister,” a source told StratPost, who denied such a meeting took place. The Statesman has however, reported otherwise.

The meeting was reported to be scheduled for discussion of the status of Dassault’s Rafale aircraft in the race for the 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) contract.

“Anyone can try and meet us as much as they like, but there is no question of any decision being taken about anything,” he said, adding, “Nothing will move until a new minister takes office.”
