German envoy to leave India, service

The German envoy to India Thomas Matussek is to leave his position as ambassador. A career diplomat, he will be leaving the foreign service, as well.

This was first reported by German website, Europäische Bewegung.

The ambassador, who had earlier served at the embassy between 1983 and 1986, will be leaving to take up a the position of Head of Public Affairs at Deutsche Bank in November.

Invitations to the Reunification Day commemoration to be held at the German Embassy in New Delhi next Monday, carried a note from Matussek and his wife, Ulla, to the effect that they hoped to say their goodbyes at the event.

Matussek has been ambassador to India since November, 2009.
