Blog: Ex-navy chief’s letter to news mag

The Indian defense magazine Purple Beret has published a letter written by former navy chief Admiral Arun Prakash to the editor of Outlook magazine, which took issue with their coverage of the naval war room leak case.

The letter, which was never published by Outlook magazine, makes interesting reading as it details the admiral’s side of the story. His wife’s nephew, former naval officer Lt. Commander Ravi Shankaran was implicated in the case and was arrested in London last May.

The case related to the leakage of confidential information from the Directorate of Naval Operations to arms dealers.

Admiral Prakash also mentions that he submitted his resignation to the then Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee when first informed of the matter.
