So the 33rd Coast Guard Day Press Conference will no longer be graced by the Defense Minister AK Antony.
The Ministry of Defense sent out a revised invitation omitting the minister’s name. Now conceivably, something might have come up that requires him elsewhere.
But the timing of the revision is fairly suggestive. It came shortly after news broke about the minister asking the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Deepak Kapoor to take disciplinary action against the outgoing Military Secretary, Lieutenant General Avdesh Prakash in the Sukhna affair.
The minister probably doesn’t feel up to facing journalistic harassment about this at the Coast Guard do.
