Indian PM to visit UAE

Manmohan Singh is likely to undertake a ‘thanksgiving’ visit to the UAE for its cooperation in the arrests of terrorists like Abdul Karim Tunda, Yasin Bhatkal and Abu Jundal. Could this first visit by an Indian PM in over 30 years help India bring Dawood Ibrahim to justice?

Unsurprisingly, India’s two largest defense suppliers are also the biggest exhibitors at the show. Israel has taken up the most space at the show with 1,293 square meters and Russia brings the largest number of companies to the show, with the count at 37.

India to sit in UNSC next year

India has been elected to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member, along with four other countries on Tuesday. In the first round, India got 187 votes, the highest number of the winning candidates, South Africa got 182 and both Pakistan and Swaziland got 01 vote each, presumably their own.

Graft alleged in South African Gripen deal

The fighter aircraft company has been accused of corruption in pushing forward sales to South Africa with Nobel Laureate Desmond Tutu coming out strongly against the South African arms contract, which also raises common allegations against South African president-in-waiting Jacob Zuma. Other deals with Hungary and the Czech Republic have also been under the scanner for alleged kickbacks being paid for the proposed purchase of the Gripen fighter.
