INS Trikand stealth frigate joins navy

The Trikand is the 2nd-last foreign surface ship acquisition by the Indian Navy. The induction of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (nee Admiral Gorshkov) will be the last surface ship acquired by the Indian Navy from abroad.

The Talwar-class (Krivak-III) frigate, Teg, will be commissioned into the the Indian Navy at Yantar shipyard at Kaliningrad by Vice Admiral K.N. Sushil on Friday. This will be the first to carry the sea launched BrahMos cruise missile, instead of the Klub-N missile and will be commanded by Captain Rakesh Kumar Dahiya.

INS Shivalik: Stealthy force multiplier

He should know, as chairman of the shipyard that manufactured it, Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL). He says the warship, displacing 6200 tons, is larger than the Talwar class (Krivak III) or the French Lafayette class.
