INS Betwa deployed to Doha marine expo

The Indian Navy has deployed the Brahmaputra class guided-missile frigate Indian Naval Ship (INS) Betwa for participation in DIMDEX, the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference to begin on Monday.

Notably, INS Betwa has previously taken part in Operation Cactus as well as in the evacuation of Indian nationals from Lebanon during the conflict between Israel and Lebanon in 2006.

The frigate is armed with the Israeli Barak missile system.

Interestingly, the Pakistan Navy will be deploying Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) Khalid, their late model Agosta 90B class submarine, PNS Zulfiquar, the new F-22P (Sword-class) frigate acquired from China as well as PNS Jalalat, a Fast Attack Craft (missile).

PNS Khalid is equipped with the Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) system, which allows it to remain submerged longer than other submarines.

BrahMos Aerospace and Goa Shipyard Limited will also participate in the exhibition.
